Tom Garrigan (BSc) was appointed BSRIA’s Technical Director in April 2021 and previously led the testing of HVAC products and systems within the BSRIA test laboratories, ranging from CE and UKCA marking requirements, to cutting edge product development and performance verification.  Laboratory based physical mock-ups and live buildings system testing focussed on measuring ventilation rates, indoor air quality, and thermal comfort.

Tom has extensive knowledge and experience testing HVAC&R products and systems in accordance with internationally recognised standards.  He has managed many projects of differing size for key manufacturers, international organisations, and Government departments.

He has contributed to the structural and technical development of European and UK quality and incentive schemes for heat pumps.  He has also led and overseen the development of bespoke testing methodologies for innovate and cutting-edge technologies, as well as contributing to partnerships with key industry stakeholders to publish BSRIA technical standards.
