This electrical building services course is suitable for facility, project and commercial managers, sales staff, general construction personnel without an electrical background and non-technical facilities personnel involved in operating buildings who require a basic appreciation of how and why electrical systems work. No prior knowledge is required.

Basic electrical theory: volts, amps, watts and kilowatt-hours
Measuring electricity; earthing, bonding and lightning protection
Alternating current and direct current; transformers
Single-phase and three-phase electricity; electrical distribution and switchgear
Single-line diagrams; cables, busbars and cable management
Circuit protection: Fuses and circuit breakers
Light sources and lighting levels; lighting controls
Emergency lighting; fire alarm systems; structured IT cabling
Photovoltaics; uninterruptible power supplies (UPS)
Power quality; regulations and standards
